‘Meander’ means ‘to wander at random’. There are countless of fun activities for lovers looking for romantic getaways with some relaxing entertainment such as cosy spas and homemade chocolate (what can be more romantic than I dewy young girl making for you a chocolate fondue tray with cheese, strawberries, grapesandeven biltong to dip into handmade molten choc? …)
So take your time, slow down, relax and enjoy exploring the Midlands Meander.
Here are some of our favorites:
Let us introduce you to the original Chocolate Experience at your Chocolate fantasy land, “Where Fun Comes Standard”… The Chocolate Experience in Rosetta is guaranteed to be like no other. Whether you are a 1 or 100 years old you will have the time of your life.
You can also indulge in our range of fine Hand Moulded Chocolates, Made with best imported Belgian chocolates.
Chocolate Heaven is truly a heavenly experience for all that can not really be described in words but has to be experienced to be appreciated.
A Taste of Germany and Switzerland. High on a hill overlooking the beautiful Caversham Valley is a little piece of Switzerland and “Gunther’s hospitality”.
Enjoy a light meal of German / Swiss sausages plus draught and wind. Vacuum packs also available for home grilling. Your hosts Carmen & Gunther look forward to welcoming you.
Contrary to popular beliefs we Germans are not at all about the “wurst” … I love this place because the hills surrounding it remind me so much of the gently rolling hills around my hometown Nordhausen. This is the perfect sport to mend a home sick heart.
The Candle Dipping shop & Decoration, fun for the whole family!
Located at “The Junction” complec. You can make your own, or order candles for weddings & hospitality venues. Other childrens activities are “Down to Earth” mobles, Treasure Boxes & wooden cut-out craft-kits, as well as Sandart Cards and kits. This is a very popular children’s activities centre which is supervised and safe. The Junction Complex also has a very unique toy shoppe (the best in all of South Africa, in my opinion)
and there are refreshment facilities, a playground and restaurant so you don’t have to go far after all the excitement.
Depart the N3 at the Nottingham Road / Mount West off ramp – turn towards Nottingham Road for about 8km – The Junction Complex is just before the bridge on the left hand side. Or access Nottingham Road from the R103.
Did you think you can find such luscious, lovely places in South Africa? Bilbo Baggins might just have found his peace here.
Sapore is a stunning new restaurant and cocktail bar on Nottingham Road that fuses classic Italian cuisine with a range of world flavours.
If you come with the children, stay on a working farm. Its incredibly charming.
This is a Classic! Nestled deep in the heart of the lush and serene KwaZulu Natal Midlands, you will find the charming Rawdons Hotel and Country Estate, a haven for those who seek the peace and tranquility of this famous country retreat.
Rawdons Hotel is a welcome haven for tourists, businesses, brides and weekenders. The R2.5m worth of renovations find the recently refurbished rooms decorated with a combination of prize antiques & with all the mod-cons one expects in the city.
On-site you will also find a thriving independent micro-brewery, The Nottingham Road Brewery, delighting visitors with a range of naturally brewed ales and lagers of outstanding quality. These brews can be enjoyed in the famous Rawdons pub, The Boars Head Pub where, in winter, the fire crackles with warm welcoming hospitality.
Ontheir website they say:
And after 56 years in the trade, there is no doubt that Rawdons still offers the friendliest hospitality around.
Well, I felt the atmosphere was be rather a liiiiittle bit snobbish, and cliquish, (old scottish fraternities type of feel) but definitely charming and a must see.
Love the cosy fireplace and a hot choci after a loong day exploring…
The Bierfassl Restaurant and pub is an Austrian themed tavern , providing welcome respite for hungry and thirsty “meanderers”. Definitely.
